In March 2006, Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board was certified by the Ontario College of Teachers as a Provider of Additional Qualifications Courses for Teachers. The courses are open to all teachers registered with the college who meet the registration requirements.

 

We are pleased to offer:

Course fees: $440 for Summer 2008, which includes a

 $20.00 administration fee.

ABQ Dramatic Arts Intermediate Fall 2008 (offered in partnership with OISE/UT Trent Valley Centre)

Drama is not theatre.  Drama in Education is a powerful combination of engaging strategies that develop students' literacy, social and thinking skills.  No prerequisites are required for this course.

 

 

Courses will run subject to sufficient enrolment. Note: full attendance is required by the Ontario College of Teachers in order to receive credit.

• Drama Part I, II and Specialist
• Reading Part I, II and Specialist
• Mathematics Part I, II and III
• French as a Second Language Part I, II and Specialist

Prerequisite for Part 2 Courses - 200 days teaching experience

 

Prerequisite for Part 3 Courses - 400 days teaching experience (no experience required in the field of study).

 

This change applies to: Computers in the Classroom, Media, Dance, Drama, ESL, FSL, Guidance, Multiculturalism in Education, Music, Reading, Special Education and Visual Arts.

 

Courses not listed, such as Math and Librarianship, still require 200 days teaching experience in field of study.

AQ Transcript Requests

 

Please send your transcript request in writing to brandi_quin@kprdsb.ca.  Your requests should include your proper full name, OCT number and the course(s) you have completed.  It also needs to indicate where you would like yout tanscript sent.  Most are sent directly to QECO.

 

The fee is $10 per transcript.  This can be paid by cash or cheque made payable to KPRDSB.  Transcripts will be processed when payment is received.

UPDATE:  AQ courses offered through KPR may now be acceptable to OSSTF for certification rating.  OSSTF members considering taking an AQ course through KPR for certification purposes are strongly advised to submit a Course Approval Application to the certification department of OSSTF prior to enrolling in the course.  The Course Approval Application is available at www.osstf.on.ca/Services/Certification/Application/Forms/Certification Form 3.  The Course Approval Application form is also available by contacting the OSSTF District 14 office.
