School Rentals- Community Use of Schools

The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board makes school facilities and playgrounds available to community groups for activities in accordance with Board Policy B-8.2 Community Use of School Facilities. Community use of schools is subject to availability and may not interfere with scheduled school activities.

The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board has reduced rental fees for community use of schools with funding made available through the provincial Community Use of Schools program which is an initiative that supports access to school space outside of school hours for not-for-profit community groups. The purpose of the rate reduction is to make our schools more available to community users. Fees charged only partially offset the cost of making facilities available to groups, and are reviewed annually. The fees are as follows:

Double gymnasium, auditorium, cafeteria $11.55 per hour
Single gymnasium $9.35 per hour
Classroom, library $4.40 per hour
Administration fee $0 per hour
Custodial Services $0 per hour
Commercial Rate (For Profit groups) $40.00 per hour

Not-for-profit organizations are incorporated for the purpose of carrying on, without financial gain, objects of a patriotic, charitable, philanthropic religious, professional, sporting or athletic character. They are incorporated under Part III of the Corporations Act as corporations without share capital.

For example:

Not-for-profit Youth-related Community Groups - Activities run by local not-for-profit youth groups such as Boy Scouts, Girl Guides, 4H clubs and Cadets etc. Youth groups are those where the participants are under the age of 18 or under the age of 28 for groups serving people with a disability.

Not-for-profit recognized children’s sport and recreation service providers - as per the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation’s Recognition Criteria For Children’s Recreation Services.

Other not-for-profit or charitable groups such as local service clubs, community health associations, seniors groups etc. as determined by the district school board.

Posted rates apply to Not For Profit organizations, while higher rates may apply to For Profit events and organizations.

Please Note:
