Elementary Registration

WELCOME TO YOUR PUBLIC SCHOOLS!

Before accessing the Student Registration Form below, please take a moment to review this related information.

Registration takes place throughout the school year. Schools are closed during the summer, but will re-open during the last week of August. Students may be registered at that time. Contact your school to register. If you do not know which school your child should attend, please call 705-742-9773, ext. 2127 or toll-free at 1-877-741-4577.

Kindergarten Registration

The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board’s Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten programs offer excellent beginnings for your child’s academic, social, emotional and language development.

Registration for full-day, every-other-day junior and senior kindergarten starting next year will take place in November 2007 at your public elementary schools. You may register your child to start school in September 2008 if:

Junior kindergarten - your child is four years of age by December 31, 2008

Kindergarten - your child is five years of age by December 31, 2008

Please bring a birth certificate or other proof of age, proof of address, and current immunization information when registering your child. Since registration times vary, please contact your local school for details. If you are not sure which school is designated for your home address, please call the Education Centre at (705)742-9773 or toll-free at 1-877-741-4577, ext. 2127.

First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Education Policy Framework and Voluntary Self-Identification Program

Within our student registration form parents will also see a new section providing an opportunity for a student or a family with aboriginal ancestry to voluntarily participate in our self-identification program. Through self-identification, parents and students will be helping us with the most basic of questions – we do not currently know how many First Nation, Métis and Inuit students attend our schools.

This program is part of our commitment to implementing the Ontario Ministry of Education’s First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Education Policy Framework, which was released last year.

We will be working to support success for aboriginal learners by increasing awareness of the learning styles of aboriginal students, and increasing understanding of First Nation, Métis, and Inuit cultures, histories, and perspectives.

If you have further questions regarding this component of our registration program, please feel free to contact myself, or our Aboriginal Education Coordinator, Shelley Knott Fife at, 705-742-9773 or toll-free at 877-741-4577, ext. 2195, or Shelley_Fife@kprdsb.ca
