Parent Involvement Committee
The Ministry of Education, in December 2005, required all school boards to establish a Parent Involvement Committee, comprised of a majority of parents, with a direct link to the Director of Education and Trustees. The committee's mandate is to support and enhance meaningful, inclusive and constructive parental involvement.
The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board invites parents to become part of the new Parent Involvement Committee. This committee will seek out the advice and ideas of school councils, other parents and partners as it plans and implements strategies to involve more parents at the school and board levels.
The Parent Involvement Committee:

is chaired by a parent and contains a majority of parents

has a direct link to the Director and Trustees

approves parent involvement expenditures, recommends activities to reach more parents, and reports back to Regional School Councils.

Three parents or school council members from each Regional Council will be selected by their peers to sit on the Committee.
These are volunteer positions. Mileage is available to Committee members.
