Castleton-South Cramahe Schools: Group Pupil Accommodation Review

The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board has approved the establishment of a joint Board/community accommodation review committee to consider the futures of Castleton and South Cramahe schools.

This committee will hold a number of public meetings to examine the student accommodation needs at the schools. At the end of the study, the review committee will prepare a report that will include recommendations on the future of the schools, including possible closures.

The Board, and the Castleton-South Cramahe P.S. Accommodation Review Committee, invites and welcomes parents and community members to committee meetings on:

January 7, 2008 (6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Castleton P.S.)
February 20, 2008 (6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., South Cramahe P.S.)
March 3, 2008 (6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Castlelton P.S.)
April 10, 2008 (6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., South Cramahe P.S.)

Castleton and South Cramahe Public Schools were identified in the Board�s Capital Needs Assessment in Spring 2007 for a possible school review.

School board administration has the responsibility to annually bring to the attention of Board Trustees schools which, for a number of reasons, may be reviewed for possible closure. KPR schools may be considered for review on the basis of a number of key criteria, including: Underutilization, Overcrowding, Program Viability, Physical Condition, Operating/Maintenance Costs, Individual or Group Accommodation Plan, or exceptional circumstances like fire, environmental or health hazards.
