Job Postings - Occasional Teaching
When recruiting for the occasional teaching lists is required, we advertise on applytoeducation.com. Registered candidates should then apply directly to the posting if they meet the criteria specified in the advertisement. The most recent job posting for both elementary and secondary occasional teaching on "applytoeducation.com" closed October 25, 2009.
Please ensure you outline in your covering letter your availability and the geographical areas you are willing to work. If you are moving, note which area of the Board you will be residing and when.
You must be a certified teacher in Ontario to work as an occasional teacher.
On the rare occasions a certified teacher is not available for a position we would invite applications from non-certified applicants. These jobs would be on applytoeducation.ca as well and you would apply at that time.
1) I have been registered on applytoeduation but have not heard anything. What is the next step? Ensure you are signed up with "job alert" so you do not miss any job postings. We advertise periodically throughout the school year for you to apply. You will not hear anything from us unless selected for an interview in response to a job posting.
2) How do I get on the supply list with KPRDSB? First register with applytoeducation then apply when we advertise for occasional teaching.
3) How often do you advertise for the supply list/occasional teaching? We advertise anytime throughout the year. Our peak recruitment times are summer and fall.
4) Is there a deadline for applications? There is no deadline for applications.
5) I live a significant distance from the boundaries of the KPRDSB. Will I still be considered for an interview for occasional teaching? When we advertise for occasional teaching we need candidates to be available immediately. You should outline in your cover letter when you will be re-locating and to what geographical area.
6) How can I be sure my application reached the appropriate person when I applied? When the job posting closes for occasional teachers, all candidates are sent an e-mail confirming their application. Contact ATEN for information on ensuring your application was received to a particular job posting.

The KPRDSB has a negotiated cap on both the elementary and secondary occasional teaching lists. We only advertise and interview when the numbers are below the maximum.
